The Climate Crisis is overwhelming. If you are feeling anxious about the future, you are experiencing a rational response to the reality of climate change. Action is one antidote to climate anxiety, as many of the individuals involved with the local groups listed on our site can attest.
Volunteering
All of the organizations listed in our Directory are held together by the glue of volunteer efforts and we encourage you to contact a specific group if you are passionate about their activities.
Alternatively, the WR Climate Collaborative is developing a network of individual volunteers who may wish to offer their time or skills without belonging to any particular group. You can let us know what kinds of things you like to do (as well as your time availability and what locations are convenient for you) and when ANY of our member groups are looking for just your skillset, we will connect them to you. You don’t have to belong to any particular group or team. Some examples of casual volunteering are: helping to organize an event, or just handing out signs at one; writing a letter, or helping with maintaining websites; staffing a table or booth at an event, or creating signs for rallies; fundraising or helping with social media; researching topics or knocking on doors to talk to people about climate change. And more…….
Opportunities with the Collaborative
The Collaborative has established two types of sub-committees some to help us run smoothly, and also where members were passionate to co-ordinate advocacy activities. If you have interest in helping with any of these, please email: [email protected] and we’ll put you in touch with the leads.
ADVOCACY Sub Committees
Elections: With the likelihood of multiple elections in 2025 we established a special sub-committee to make sure that Climate Action is front and center in the discussions. See our special page “Vote for Climate”. If you’d like to help coordinate information for the website, be a sign captain to help manage our specially designed “Vote for Climate Action” signs (or order one) email [email protected].
District Energy: Interest was expressed in starting a subgroup to explore ways to promote District Energy in the region (see January newsletter on the About Us page).
COMMUNICATION Sub Committees
Social Media: We established a social media subgroup that has already started creating an account on Instagram. Interested in helping with managing content? Please let us know!
Newsletter: We may be small, but keen. If you’d like to join, please reach out to us at [email protected].
